How to Save a Public Snapchat Spotlight Video

Snapchat is built around content that disappears, but Spotlight - Snapchat's public short-video feed - works differently. Spotlight videos are public and shareable, which means they can be saved the same way you'd save a video from any other platform.

Spotlight vs. regular Snaps

Regular Snaps sent to friends are private and temporary by design, and there's no legitimate way to download someone else's private Snap - that's intentional. Spotlight videos are different: they're public posts meant to be discovered and shared widely, similar to TikTok or Reels, and each one has a shareable link.

How to save a public Spotlight video

  1. Open the Spotlight video in the Snapchat app.
  2. Tap the Share icon and choose Copy Link.
  3. Go to the AllVideoDL Snapchat downloader and paste the link into the box.
  4. Click Start, then Download Video once processing finishes.

Why won't a private Snap download?

Private Snaps aren't hosted at a public, shareable URL the way Spotlight videos are - they're designed to be viewed briefly within the app and then disappear. AllVideoDL only works with public links, so private Snaps are outside the scope of what any link-based downloader can access, by design.

Quick tips

  • The downloaded file is a standard MP4 that works on any phone or computer.
  • No Snapchat account or app installation is required to use AllVideoDL.
  • Always respect the creator's rights before reposting a Spotlight video elsewhere.
